For people that actually want to get some killing done without the bullshit of trying to build a nuke.

Hell yeah. You can totally blow shit to pieces with this .45

what bullshit? Just get the yellow cake off amazon and follow that easy guide someone published a few years ago. Your not gonna take out a major city with that pea shooter, no matter how many tankers you hit with it. If you want mass murder, you got no other choice.

how much?

Meh, I'm more of a biological warfare guy anyway. I'd rather spread a virus that could infect countless people across all continents than blow up a city.

Around $1-1.5K

Sigh, SWAMBO would blow her top if I dropped $1000 on a hand cannon. She is still annoyed at me for spending $400 on a Super Nova.

Thats a beautiful gun my good man, just slightly out of my price range.

Meh beautiful gun, I'll stick with the P229 though
![]() 06/11/2014 at 09:08 |

You can get the Rock Island Armory 1911s for under $500 new, but since they have a parkerized finish they don't wear quite as well, and some of them need some trigger tuning and ramp polishing to be "right".

I got the $1. Deal!

With a 9 round maximum capacity mag, due to weight and caliber size....

I just realized that you have my truck as your profile picture.

Love your truck. It's a daily reminder top save and plan so I can update and prepare mine for overlanding. I hope you don't mind.

Not at all, if you need any info on builds and stuff let me know. Where you located?

Nashville, TN. All i have done to mine is upkeep. She sat for 3 years at my fathers house while I was in AFG, Japan, and various other south pacific island countries. I swapped out my SLS finally in January. Just put a non-ACE belt on and in
November I put on a Tom Woods double cardan front driveshaft. Need to do front tierods, (may as well change all bushings and bumpstops too) a head gasket this year and oil pan gasket as well, I have no clue how to do these. Wish I had a garage to work out of, but I am in IT so i work many hours to afford my overpriced apartment that does not allow me to work on my car.

Ah yes, the life of a Disco 2 owner. Head gaskets are easy but very involved, Land Rover Forums has a good write up on how to do it.
Here is a good list on my clubs site that has a pretty comprehensive list of stuff you need. I suggest using studs instead of those crappy stretch bolts.
I too work in the world of IT and thankfully my dad has a garage that I can use when I need to. Condo life sucks, I need a house with a garage.

Agreed especially since my paint on the roof is going and i need to strip it and put a blackout on it. What area are you in? There is no LR club here in the nashville area sucks a fat one. Thanks for the write up. I wonder if I could do this stuff myself. May have to really take a few minutes and look at the requirements. I wish I still had the picture I borrowed for my thumbnail. But I haven't seen it ever again after I initially created my LR motivation folder on my old blackberry and then that disappeared.

I'm in the North East, New Jersey to be specific.

Dude I love it. That is truly an impeccable build. I want to get all my internals squared away first, then swap for a CDL t-case, then do 3" on springs and 1.5" on the spacers. Then I want to attempt a big brake kit, swap wheels for the i think eight spoke factory 17's. Then front and rear bumpers, roof rack, snorkel, light bars, worklamp, dog cage behind back seat and on inside of the rear windows for mounting gear, tools, and as necessary weapons. Then lockers, diff gaurds, steering guard, and fuel tank guard. Needless to say, I want to remove it's ability to ever be a daily driver :)

The only thing I'm missing on my truck is, lockers, winch and organized gear storage (which I'm rectifying). I'm running a 2" RTE HD lift (with coil spring conversion) on 265/75/16's MTR's, front and back bumpers are also from RTE as well as the tank skid plate and weld on diff guards. I went with the 2" because I'm lazy and didn't want to have to rebuild the steering. I have gone through some pretty hairy spots with just 2" and 32" tires so I don't think I'll go over that.
![]() 06/11/2014 at 13:30 |

I'm going over because I already have to rebuild the steering because of the wonderful ACE system

Was it new?

That's a .45 though. You can pick up a .22 for a few hundred bucks, although it won't be all pretty. Get her into shooting, and then you can get the big guns!

Lol, fair enough. Might as well then.

I'm working on that, she's a Jersey girl so has never encountered guns before she met me so I have to take it slow.

Yes, an Auto Ordinance M1911

Do you do any of the events, SCARR, Rovers on the Rocks etc?
![]() 06/11/2014 at 15:04 |

Haven't done SCARR, I try to go to Rovers on the Rocks every year.

That's awesome. I have ooled over the videos and pics that end up online after the events and pine away hoping to be able to go to one of the events soon.

Armscor/Rock Island Armory basic 45ACP 1911s are usually around $500.00 and quite reliable if left completely box stock. Some aftermarket parts don't interchange safely especially in the fire control system. If you feel mods are necessary leave the hot rodding to a qualified gunsmith. Changing grip panels is OK. I've owned 3 Rock Island Armory 45s and used them in IDPA matches. Learn to hand load to keep ammunition costs down. Hand loading is a worthy hobby by itself and 45ACP is a cartridge that can do almost anything from soft ball low recoil competition loads to hunting medium size game.

They're tons of fun, I think Conclave is close enough for you and they have trails for stock trucks. It's in VA.

Also when you redo the roof, use white paint. Will look fantastic and also keep the truck cooler on a hot summer day, black on the roof will just make you cook.

White paint would look awful on Monte Carlo Blue :)
